The Montrose Playhouse – Cinema & Arts Venue

Starting off as a simple drawing by our very own David Paton, The Montrose Playhouse is a remarkable transformation of the town’s former swimming pool into a vibrant cinema and arts venue for the community.

David spearheaded the project with the support of the Crawford Architecture team, creating a design which preserves the building’s character while creating a modern community hub for film, arts, events and socialising. Stripped out with the support of community volunteers before being built by Bancon Construction Ltd. post-lockdown, we used our expertise in project management and securing community funding to make this project a reality.

The venue opened on Friday, 8th October 2021, with a screening of the 25th James Bond Film, "No Time to Die". Today, the Playhouse stands as a testament to David’s vision, celebrating community spirit and the power of thoughtful design.
